Point Nine's senior management has many years of experience in the financial market services that we offer to our client community. Areas of expertise include operations, trading, risk management and information technology.


Yannis Matsis, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.

Yannis Matsis co-founded Point Nine with Pavlos Christoforou in 2002 and joined Point Nine as Chief Executive Officer in April 2008.

Yannis made his career in banking where he has 15 years of experience in building and managing global debt capital market teams. Prior to Point Nine Yannis was head of Structured Trading at Mizuho International, where he built from scratch and managed a global team responsible for structuring and trading credit, interest rate and foreign exchange derivative products with annual volume turnovers in excess of USD 20 billion. Yannis joined Mizuho in 2003 from ING Barings where he was global head of the Credit Derivatives business with offices and operations in London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Sao Paulo.

At both Mizuho and ING, Yannis was directly involved in building the whole front-to-back infrastructure required to support structuring and trading of his groups' products. This involved continuous interaction and co-operation with market risk management, credit risk management, product and financial control, information technology, legal, operations (including settlements), etc.

Yannis graduated from Cambridge University with a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.


Pavlos Christoforou, Co-founder and Executive Senior Manager.

Pavlos Christoforou co-founded Point Nine with Yannis Matsis in 2002 and has since been the Chief Technology Officer.

Prior to founding Point Nine, Pavlos held the position of Director of Technology at Yifan LLC, a large Asian Portal/ISP. At Yifan, Pavlos was responsible for internet security, server deployment and web application design.

Pavlos earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Imperial College London and a Master's degree in Physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he was a Research Assistant at the Institute of Terrestrial and Planetary Atmospheres (ITPA). At ITPA, Pavlos was responsible for the design and implementation of a computational/atmospheric collaborative project between ITPA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the US government (NOAA). During his research, Pavlos has published articles in major geophysical journals.


Paula Anderton, Middle and Back Office Manager.

Paula Anderton, Middle and Back Office Manager. Prior to Saltus Partners, Paula spent over 6 years at Goldman Sachs, in three different roles: 1998 - 2000 Middle Office, where she was Sales Assistant for Institutional Clients dealing with account opening, booking trades, dealing with counterparties to resolve failing trades and investigation of interest claims. Between 2000-2003 Paula was part of Goldman Sachs' Employee Trading desk, where she was responsible monitoring and trading over 4,000 accounts for Goldman Sachs employees and their families up to partner level. Between 2003-2005 Paula worked in Goldman Sachs' Client Control department, where she was responsible for aged fails, client money and compliance oversight.

Paula Anderton joined Point Nine in July 2007 to help organise and oversee the company's middle and back office services.

Prior to joining Point Nine, Paula worked briefly as a Portfolio Administrator at BlackRock where her responsibilities included cash reconciliations on large institutional pension funds, monitoring weighting in different sectors, dealing with voting on corporate actions and compliance monitoring, arranging foreign exchange (FX) trades in restricted currencies and arranging stock trading approvals with Kapitalanlagegesellschaft (KAG or German Capital Investment Company) monitored accounts.

Prior to BlackRock, Paula spent a year and a half at Saltus Partners, a private wealth management company and hedge fund manager. At Saltus Partners, Paula was responsible for processing trades and overseeing the allocation of funds into sub-funds for asset managers.
